King of the Mountain 2027

Kia ora, runners! Lace up for the legendary Pāuanui King of the Mountain on January 2nd, 2027. This iconic challenge is part of the Coromandel’s vibrant Pāuanui Summer Series and promises an unforgettable out-and-back trek to Mount Pāuanui's summit.
Check in at the Pāuanui Surf Club Reserve from 6:00 AM to 7:30 AM, where you'll collect your personalized race bib. The start line buzzes just before 8:00 AM as runners gear up for a grueling yet breathtaking ascent along the Cave Bay Loop track.
The course clocks in at approximately 7.7 kilometers with an elevation gain of 410 meters—a steep and rugged trail that tests every runner's mettle. From the summit, you'll be rewarded with stunning panoramic views over Pāuanui Beach and beyond. The descent can get slippery, so sturdy shoes are a must.
Professional timing ensures your effort is recorded as soon as you cross the finish line. Afterward, head to the Pāuanui Sports & Recreation Club for prize-giving at 12:30 PM where medals will be awarded to the King and Queen of the Mountain along with top male and female runners in each age category.
