Ka.dre Kollective - The Homecoming

The Kollective Ride Series celebrates connection, community spirit, and a shared dedication to enhancing road safety across Ontario. Spearheaded by the Share the Road Cycling Coalition (Coalition) and Racer Sportif—a partnership forged from a tragic loss—this initiative aims to foster a safer cycling environment.
In 2006, OPP Sergeant Greg Stobbart was tragically killed while training on his bike near Burlington, prompting immediate action. The driver responsible had numerous traffic violations and unpaid fines, highlighting the urgent need for stronger road safety measures. Following this incident, Racer Sportif organized the first community ride in Greg’s honor, marking a pivotal moment in Ontario's cycling advocacy.
Eleanor McMahon, Sergeant Stobbart’s widow, founded the Coalition in 2007 to advocate for legislative changes and safer roads. Her efforts led to the passage of Greg’s Law in 2008, which introduced harsher penalties for suspended drivers. Over time, this partnership has driven significant road safety campaigns, infrastructure improvements, and advocacy initiatives.
The Kollective series continues this legacy with a summer-long program of rides designed to connect cyclists, build community bonds, and engage deeply with the broader network of cycling advocates and partners. Each event offers riders an exceptional riding experience while reinforcing the values that underpin Ontario’s cycling culture.
A key aspect is welcoming new riders into the sport, providing them with accessible entry points and opportunities to embrace the spirit and principles of Share the Road and its allies. By blending community engagement, advocacy efforts, and cultural enrichment, The Kollective honors past achievements and shapes a promising future for cycling in Ontario.
