Ilford AC 10 mile Cross Country

ILFORD ATHLETIC CLUB invites runners to participate in their annual 10-mile cross country race, set for December 27, 2026. This challenging course winds through the undulating tracks and grasslands of Hainault Forest Park, offering a scenic backdrop that transitions seamlessly from woodland paths to open fields.
The event begins at Chigwell Row on Lambourne Road (opposite Millers Lane), IG7 6ET, where runners will embark on three laps around the varied terrain. The race is dedicated in memory of Kevin Newell, with proceeds benefiting his charity.
Participants are encouraged to arrive early for a smooth start; race numbers can be collected at the event headquarters before the official time check-in begins. Parking and restroom facilities are available near the main entrance to Hainault Forest Park, but runners should plan an additional walk from there to reach the starting line.
The course features rolling hills that test endurance as much as speed, with a two-hour cut-off for safety reasons. Runners who anticipate finishing later than this time can still complete their laps, though they may not receive official times or be fully supported by marshals throughout the entire duration of the race.
Prizes will be awarded to the top three men and women overall, along with veteran categories. Presentation ceremonies take place promptly after the last runner crosses the finish line, ensuring a celebratory atmosphere for all participants.
For those unable to pre-register online, on-site entries are available but come with an additional £3 fee. Detailed results will subsequently be posted on ILFORD ATHLETIC CLUB's website (www.ilfordathleticclub.co.uk) shortly after the event concludes.
Runners should park responsibly and avoid local residential areas or The Two Brewers Pub to respect nearby residents' peace during this festive season race day.
