About the event
Join us for the annual Ian Lewis Memorial 5K. Held at beautiful E Carroll Joyner Park in Wake Forest, we are gathering to have fun, get some exercise and raise money for the Ian Lewis Character Scholarship! Ian was a wonderful, fun-loving young man who uplifted everyone around him, and whose life was tragically cut short in 2019. The scholarship is awarded annually to a male and female senior soccer player at Wake Forest High School who is a loyal friend and teammate and who is a unifying force for the team, all qualities that Ian exhibited. 💚
Start Time:
Check in and packet pickup beginning at 7:15 am, Race begins at 9:00 am
Registration Fees:
$30 - 18 and older, $25 - 17 and under, kids 5 and under free. Prices increase by $5 February 1st
Awards:
Top 3 finishers male and female
Giveaway:
T-shirts included if registered by February 1st.
Course:
The race will begin and end in the Pecan Grove area of Joyner Park. The course is a USATF-certified course that winds along the paved trails of the beautiful park.
**For the safety of all participants and due to liability considerations, dogs/pets are not permitted on the race course.

Wake Forest is a town in Franklin and Wake Counties of North Carolina, immediately to the north of the state capital Raleigh. With a population just over 41,000 that primarily commutes to work in the Research Triangle Park, the town is the 9th fastest growing municipality in the state of North Carolina. On first approach, it doesn't look much different from the other satellite cities and towns surrounding the Research Triangle: a sometimes congested central highway passes through shopping centers and restaurants around which are clustered sprawling residential neighborhoods. Gently rolling hills are dotted with green, a reminder of the feature for which the town is named. However, leaving the highway and driving downtown reveals an area frozen at a particular point in time. The town is primarily known for its historic character, but also for outdoor activities in the Falls Lake Recreation Area.
