Registration for this popular event opens early to ensure you secure your spot among the limited capacity of 300 runners. The deadline for guaranteed race shirts is July 7th, but spots may fill up before then, so don't delay in signing up.
The adventure begins at Cedar Pavilion, located at the southern end of Double Oak Lake within Oak Mountain State Park. Participants must enter through the South Entrance near I-65 to avoid delays and ensure a smooth start time of 7:00 AM for both race distances.
Prepare yourself for an exhilarating journey across varied landscapes as you climb up Double Oak Mountain, descend into Peavine Gorge, and even cool off under natural waterfalls. The course features challenging ascents and descents designed to test your endurance while offering breathtaking views of the park's diverse terrain.
Aid stations are strategically placed along the route, including an extra station near Peavine Falls where runners can replenish their fluids and electrolytes. Tailwind is recommended for optimal performance in the heat, but other hydration methods such as water bottles or sports drinks will also suffice.
Packet pickup options include Friday evening at Mountain High Outfitters store located one mile from Oak Mountain State Park's South Gate, and Saturday morning before race start directly at Cedar Pavilion.
