Hill to Hollow 100km

SCTR is thrilled to present the second edition of the Hill to Hollow 100km Ultra Marathon, co-directed with Pete Dady from the Hash House Harriers. This challenging race traverses four counties and showcases some of New York's most breathtaking landscapes along the Onondaga Trail.
The journey begins in Morgan Hill State Forest where runners will find camping facilities available for those who wish to acclimate before the event. The route follows a nearly all-single-track trail, winding through misty ponds, ascending to stunning vistas, and crossing over cascading waterfalls. As participants move eastward towards Highland Forest County Park, they'll pass by DeRuyter Reservoir before heading south on the enigmatic Link Trail through Muller Hill State Forest.
The course then joins the main Finger Lakes Trail in Mariposa State Forest, leading runners past Chippewa Falls and back to Morgan Hill State Forest via the Onondaga Trail. The terrain is varied, with significant elevation changes totaling approximately 10,348 feet over a distance of about 62.5 miles.
Given its remote nature, self-sufficiency and strong navigation skills are essential for this race. Participants must carry a fully charged cell phone kept turned on throughout the event with the Race Director’s contact number saved. A navigation device capable of functioning offline is also required, along with other mandatory gear such as a headlamp with extra batteries, reflective vest, emergency blanket, waterproof shell, water filtration device, and sufficient food and liquid reserves.
Aid stations will offer essential items like ice (if needed), water, Skratch electrolyte drink mix, fruit slices, sandwiches, pickles, chips, pretzels, Oreos, candy, and a limited selection of hot foods at aid station number six. Crew assistance is permitted anywhere on the course as long as they do not park on private property.
Solo runners may have pacers after mile 31.9 (approximately AS#4), but only one pacer per runner can be present at any time, and changes must occur exclusively at designated aid stations. All participants are encouraged to support trail maintenance organizations by donating during registration; SCTR will match donations up to $250.
Upon crossing the finish line, runners will receive a pair of highly coveted SCTR socks, while top finishers in each gender division and the fastest relay team will be awarded prizes. The event takes place concurrently with the Morgan Hill Trail Races Half Marathon & Marathon and is recognized by Trail Sisters as an approved race.
Registration for this unique adventure closes before the confirmed start date of September 18, 2027, offering runners a chance to experience one of New York’s most scenic trail races.
