Conveniently located just two hours north of Atlanta, we welcome you to the heart of the North Georgia mountains for the 2nd Annual Hiawassee Half Marathon & 5K!

Starting and finishing in the charming Hiawassee Town Square, this scenic road race showcases the beauty of our mountain-lake community. Both courses feature stunning views of Lake Chatuge, with the half marathon offering a full 360-degree tour around its sparkling shoreline. With moderately hilly terrain and well-maintained road surfaces, runners of all experience levels can enjoy a smooth, fast course surrounded by breathtaking scenery.

Half Marathon: 7:30 am Start; 4 hour time limit (18 min 20 sec mile)

5K: 8:30 am Start

Hiawassee is the county seat of Towns County, Georgia, United States. The population was 981 at the 2020 census. Its name is derived from the Cherokee—or perhaps Creek—word Ayuhwasi, which means meadow, Hiawassee is also known in the novel "Restart" by Gordon Korman.
