Hardmoors 26.2 Wainstones

No frills. No shortcuts. Just 28 miles of Cleveland Way moorland, with a 5,600 ft ascent and a mandatory kit check that could save your life. The Hardmoors Wainstones Trail Marathon returns to the North York Moors on Sunday, June 14, 2026. Three distances: 28‑mile marathon, 16.5‑mile Half, and 9.5‑mile 10k. Start times staggered from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. This is an Association of Running Clubs permitted race.

Mandatory Kit (no exceptions):

• Full waterproof jacket and trousers (taped seams).
• Hat, gloves, buff (a buff counts as a hat).
• Head torch with spare batteries.
• Emergency foil blanket and whistle.
• Map of the route (printed or on device), compass, and route description.
• Mobile phone with race director number stored.
• At least 500ml water (carry more if needed).
• Food for the duration (gels, bars, sandwiches — no aid station guarantees).
• Random kit checks happen. Run without it and you will be stopped.

What you need to know:

• No refunds or transfers (see race Ts & Cs for exceptions).
• Rarely cancelled due to weather — but if cancelled last minute, no refund.
• Courses are not fully marked. You must navigate using maps, GPX, and route descriptions.
• Aid stations are basic — water and limited snacks. Allergies? Carry your own food.
• Finisher medal and T‑shirt? Yes. This is Hardmoors — you get the medal.
• Dogs? No.
• Can a friend run with you? No — unsupported solo race.

Logistics:

• Parking included in entry fee.
• Registration times: marathon from 08:00, half from 09:00, 10k from 10:00.
• Cutoffs strictly enforced.
• Results, GPX files, maps, and risk assessment documents available on Hardmoors website.
