Get ready to kick off summer at the 2nd Annual Hansen Dam Splash & Dash 5K — a one-of-a-kind community race set against the scenic backdrop of Hansen Dam Recreation Area, home to one of the largest aquatic facilities in the country. Whether you’re chasing a personal best, walking with family and friends, or simply looking for a fun morning outdoors, this event is designed for runners of all ages and experience levels.

The day starts with a scenic run through Hansen Dam followed by an all-day pool party and community celebration featuring music, aquatic activities, vendors, raffles, and free access to the Hansen Dam Aquatic Center.

🕢 7:30 AM — Registration & Check-In Opens
Arrive early, grab your bib, explore vendor booths, and get warmed up for the morning ahead.

🎧 8:00 AM — DJ & Music Begins
Energy goes up as our DJs get runners and spectators hyped at the starting line and throughout the event.

🎤 8:45 AM — Opening Remarks & National Anthem
Join us at the main stage as we officially kick off the inaugural Splash & Dash.

🏃 9:00 AM — 1K Fun Run Starts
Perfect for youth, families, and first-time runners.

Hit the course for the main event through Hansen Dam Recreation Area.

About Sylmar

Learn more about the host city, Sylmar.

Sylmar is a suburban neighborhood in the San Fernando Valley and the northernmost neighborhood within the city of Los Angeles, California, United States. Historically known for its profusion of sylvan olive orchards, Sylmar can trace this back to the 18th century and the founding of the San Fernando Mission. In 1890, olive production was begun systematically. The Sylmar climate was also considered healthy, and so a sanitarium was established, the first in a series of hospitals in the neighborhood. There are fourteen public and eight private schools within Sylmar.
