Returning for its seventh edition, the Greater Haywards Heath Bike Ride on Sunday, September 6th, promises an unforgettable family-friendly cycling experience. This annual event not only celebrates the vibrant community of Haywards Heath but also raises crucial funds for local charities. Set against the backdrop of West Sussex's picturesque countryside, cyclists can choose from four distinct routes catering to riders of all levels and ambitions: - Sweeping Valleys (Black Route): A challenging 119k route designed for serious cyclists looking to test their endurance.
- The Highwayman Ride (Red Route): Spanning 78k, this course offers a significant challenge but ensures you'll be home in time for lunch. - Cavalier Ride (Blue Route): At 33k, it's an ideal distance for experienced families and those who wish to cover the ground quickly yet comfortably.
- Sergison Ride (Green Route): A shorter, family-friendly option at 20k, perfect for beginners or anyone wanting a leisurely ride. Each route showcases undulating terrain that winds through scenic landscapes, offering breathtaking views of rolling hills and lush greenery. Cyclists will enjoy the camaraderie of fellow riders while being cheered on by enthusiastic spectators from local community groups. The event supports two important charities: Crawley Open House, which provides essential services to those experiencing homelessness or social exclusion; and Kangaroos, a charity dedicated to supporting individuals with severe learning disabilities through various programs that offer respite and support for both the disabled and their families. Participants can look forward to receiving chip timing and a finisher's medal upon completion of any route. Safety is paramount at this event: all riders must wear helmets and those under 18 require parental consent forms signed by their guardians. Registration fees vary depending on the chosen distance, with family discounts available for multiple participants. For more information or to register, visit the official website where detailed maps and further details are provided.
