Gravel Worlds returns to its roots on Saturday, February 20, 2027, with an intimate and challenging event that celebrates the essence of endurance racing. Nestled north and west of Lincoln, this race offers cyclists a unique blend of rolling hills and rugged terrain, all set against the backdrop of gravel and dirt roads.
The day's events kick off at 9 AM with the 100k Bike Challenge, covering approximately 63 miles of undulating landscapes. At 10 AM, participants can choose between two shorter cycling options: a 50k route spanning around 31 miles or a more compact 25k Mile ride stretching over about 15 miles. Both courses feature the same challenging terrain and scenic routes.
The day's final event begins at 10:30 AM with a 6.2-mile run on gravel and dirt roads, providing runners an opportunity to experience the course in its most unfiltered form. Each discipline promises a raw and rewarding race that tests both physical endurance and mental fortitude.
A key feature of this year's Gravel Worlds is the return of lottery tickets as proof of checkpoint visits for cyclists. Racers must purchase either a Powerball or MegaMillions ticket at designated checkpoints, which are located in small town stores along the route. These tickets serve not only as entry requirements but also offer participants a chance to contribute to local charity and potentially win big.
All riders will be required to turn in their lottery tickets upon finishing their respective events. If any of these pooled lotto tickets hit a major win, 10% of the winnings will go towards supporting a charitable cause while the remainder is divided evenly among all participants, volunteers, and event organizers.
