Fort Yargo Ultra

The Fort Yargo Ultra is an exhilarating 50K trail run through the scenic beauty of Georgia’s Fort Yargo State Park, located just outside Winder. This race offers runners two distance options: a full 50K loop and a half-distance 25K option. Both routes wind along pristine single-track trails that have been praised for their quality.
The course features rolling hills around the park's serene lake, providing challenging terrain with opportunities to showcase speed as you near the finish line. The event is designed not only for seasoned ultrarunners but also welcomes beginners looking to tackle their first ultra distance in a supportive environment.
Runners will enjoy picturesque views and varied landscapes throughout both distances. For those who wish to bring their canine companions, there’s an additional 25K Canine Run starting shortly after the main event begins.
Race day is set for April 10, 2027, with mild spring weather expected in the mid-70s Fahrenheit, making it ideal for endurance running. The race starts at Fort Yargo State Park's Lake Pavilion next to the brand new visitors center. Early packet pickup will be available on Friday from 5pm to 7pm and continues on Saturday starting at 6:30am.
Participants in the 50K distance can utilize two drop bags, provided by Warrior Racing upon check-in, which are accessible at aid stations #2 and #5. Gear storage is also permitted at the start/finish area for all runners to use throughout race day.
The Fort Yargo Ultra offers a fully marked course with free parking, ensuring that participants focus solely on their run without worrying about logistics. All finishers will receive a commemorative medal and t-shirt, while top three finishers in various categories—overall men and women, masters (ages 40-59), grandmasters (60+)—will earn additional accolades including free entry to next year’s event.
Awards are given based on official race times recorded at the finish line. Race organizers emphasize adherence to rules regarding course integrity and aid station etiquette for a safe and fair competition environment.
