The Folsom Lake Sweetwater Trail Run offers runners of all levels an unforgettable experience along the picturesque trails of El Dorado Hills. This race takes place on January 23, 2027, and features a challenging yet rewarding course that winds through the scenic foothills of California's Sierra Nevada range.
Participants can expect to run mostly single-track trail (95%) with some sections of dirt road weaving alongside Folsom Lake. The Sweetwater Trail provides an ideal setting for this event, featuring gentle rolling hills covered in oak trees and lush greenery. This course is known for its technical terrain that will test your skills as a runner while also offering stunning views throughout the run.
The race day schedule kicks off at 6:00 AM with parking opening to participants. Registration begins promptly at 6:30 AM, allowing ample time for runners to pick up their bibs and prepare before heading out on the course. A trail briefing will be held at 7:45 AM just prior to the start of all race distances.
The event offers a variety of distance options including a Kids Run starting at 7:30 AM followed by waves for other races beginning at 8:00 AM with the longest events (the 50K and Marathon) leading off, shortly followed by the Half Marathon. Smaller distances like the 9 Mile, 10k, 5k, and even a short 1 mile option are scheduled to start later in waves.
Each distance has its own unique course map available online for detailed planning ahead of time. Aid stations will be strategically placed along all routes providing essential hydration and nutrition throughout your run. All finishers receive a commemorative medal celebrating their achievement on this beautiful trail system.
