Flag City Backyard Ultra

The Flag City Backyard Ultra offers an intense endurance challenge around the serene Findlay Reservoir, where runners face off against time and each other on a 4.3-mile loop that repeats every hour until just one remains standing. With zero elevation gain and no muddy terrain to slow you down, this course is as straightforward as it gets—runners must complete their laps solo or risk disqualification. The simplicity of the route means there are no shortcuts; focus solely on pacing yourself for a long haul with changing conditions in mind.
Self-supported runners should come prepared with all necessary supplies and gear, including headlamps for potential night runs. Parking is available at the base of the reservoir, while camping options allow participants to acclimate overnight before the event. Live timing by Mike Melton ensures accurate tracking throughout, and online streaming keeps friends and family engaged from afar.
As you push through each loop, remember that this race not only tests your physical limits but also your mental fortitude. The atmosphere is electric as runners support one another while striving for victory in a unique format where every lap counts until the final whistle blows.
