About the Event

The Norwegian Mountain Marathon offers an exhilarating journey through breathtaking mountain terrain, welcoming runners and families alike with distances tailored for all ages. Located in Beitostølen, Norway, this race immerses participants in the heart of a stunning national park.
Runners can choose from several routes: the full marathon, half marathon, Mountain Goat 10 km cross-country run, Minithon 7 km, and a fun kids' race covering approximately 800 meters. The marathon route starts at an elevation of around 900 meters above sea level (masl), ascends to its highest point at about 1400 masl before descending back down to the finish line in Beitostølen. This scenic course winds through Besstrond, featuring stretches of paved road that cut through a desolate yet beautiful mountain landscape.
For those opting for the half marathon, the race begins at the summit of the full marathon route and follows a downhill path all the way to the same finishing area in Beitostølen. Each distance provides unique challenges and stunning views as runners navigate varied terrain within this picturesque setting.
Year after year, around 1500 participants gather to experience the natural beauty and rigorous challenge that the Norwegian Mountain Marathon has to offer. This event is not just a race but an adventure through one of Norway's most captivating landscapes.

Beitostølen is a village in Øystre Slidre Municipality in Innlandet county, Norway. The village is located at an elevation of about 900 metres (3,000 ft) above mean sea level on the southern edge of the Valdresflye mountain plateau. The villages of Skammestein and Hegge lie about 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) to the southeast of Beitostølen. The lake Øyangen lies a short distance to the southwest of the village. The Norwegian County Road 51 runs through the village.
