Festies 5k

The Festies 5K returns to La Porte City on June 20th, 2026, starting at the Union High School Track Entrance in the heart of the city. The race offers a flat and fast course through the streets of La Porte City, perfect for both seasoned runners and newcomers.
Race morning finds participants gathering under skies typically clear with an average temperature around 22°C but feeling like 22°C due to low humidity at 67.6%. The air is crisp as you navigate the hard and dry surface, navigating through neighborhoods that awaken early on a Saturday in June. Elevation changes are minimal, ensuring a smooth run for all.
The course venue starts from Union High School Track Entrance, weaving through La Porte City's streets before concluding at the same starting point. The route includes several notable features such as wide sidewalks and well-maintained trails that provide an enjoyable experience despite the high UV index of 8 (Very High). Aid stations are strategically placed along the course to ensure hydration and energy support.
The weather on race day will range from a minimum of 17°C in the early morning, rising to a maximum of 27°C as the sun climbs higher. The average wind speed is around 13 km/h, which feels relatively mild but can pick up noticeably during your run. Precipitation is minimal with just 3.8 mm expected, making conditions ideal for running.

Registration for the event opens on June 7th and can be done at https://raceroster.com/events/2026/119316/festies-5k, with an early bird price of $25 until that date. From June 8th through race day, the fee is $30 (shirt not guaranteed). Packet pickup starts at 7:00 AM on June 20th; please arrive by 7:45 AM to ensure you receive your number and other materials.
The event supports Little Knights Learning Center - La Porte City Campus with all proceeds. This year, the race aims for a record turnout of participants, making it an essential community event that celebrates health, fitness, and local support.
