Fall Frolic 4 Miler | 8HR

About the Event

Fall Frolic 4 Miler | 8 HR

Four miles. Eight hours. Probably some mud. Definitely some questionable decisions. The Fall Frolic is a laid-back trail running event with a few different ways to join. You can come run one loop, spend the day seeing how many loops you can rack up, or dip your toes into the wonderfully weird world of Backyard Ultras. There are three ways to Frolic: 4 Miler “I’m Just Here for a Good Time” Run one 4-mile loop. That's it. Four miles of trails, fresh air, fall foliage, and whatever nonsense we have going on out there. Run it hard. Run it easy. Walk when you feel like it. Stop and admire a tree. We won't judge. 8 Hour “How Many Can I Get?” You've got 8 hours to run as many 4 mile loops as you can. Run a loop. Take a break. Eat something. Run another. Hang out. Run another. Question your life choices. Run another. There’s no requirement to keep moving, and you can call it a day whenever you've had enough. Last Human Standing… But Not Quite Ever wanted to try a Backyard Ultra but aren't quite ready for the whole “miss the cutoff and you're dead to us” thing? Well- this one's for you! At the top of every hour, you head out for another 4 mile loop. The idea is to get back before the next hour starts, just like a traditional Last Human Standing/Backyard Ultra. But here's the twist: If you don't make it back in time, YOU ARE NOT ELIMINATED. Take your time, finish your loop, and you'll be pushed over to the 8 hour category for the remainder of the race so you can still get some more miles in. This is your chance to practice the Backyard format - figuring out pacing, fueling, recovery, and just how much time you actually want to leave yourself between loops without the pressure of getting sent home because you were 37 seconds late. Whether you're chasing miles, testing your legs, practicing for a Backyard, or just looking for a fun excuse to spend a November day on the trails.. come join us!

Got questions? We got answers

Where does the race start? The race begins at the check-in area of the campgrounds. In your GPS if you put in "Wompatuck State Park," and follow signs for the campgrounds you'll get there no problem. Parking? We will have plenty of spots at the transfer station which is located a few hundred feet away from the camp ground entrance. Think of it as a warmup. For anyone doing the 8HR- feel free to drop off your supplies at the campground before heading down to the parking area. What supplies should I bring? We suggest bringing water and food. If you're doing the 8HR it's not a bad idea to bring extra socks/shoes, change of clothes, extra snacks, water, etc. We welcome anyone to drop off goodies at our community table. Porta potties: We will have porta potties on site on the start/finish of the race. Trail conditions: By November expect some mud and water on the trails. Packet pickup: Friday, November 6: 12-6p at TA Fitness Weymouth (70 Finnell Dr #5) November 7th at the park beginning at 7a

Meet the race director

Meet the race director Jen Cavanagh is the owner and head trainer of TA Fitness; an obstacle course and functional fitness gym based out of Weymouth, Ma. Jen began running for fitness and mental health. Her passion for running grew and she soon tried an ultra marathon- and she fell in love. She has traveled around the country running all different kinds of races and now it is time for her to direct her own! Her goal over the years has been to introduce her clients to running and help them grow to love it as much as she does. Whether you are walking the 4 mile or running your heart out during the 8 hour, she'll be there cheering you on!

Food?!

Aid stations: There will be a community food and drink table at the start/finish where you can load up on yummy things. We'll have gluten free options, vegan options, nut free and whatever anyone wants to bring
