The 45-kilometer race is designed for runners who seek an immersive and challenging experience from start to finish. The journey begins at the iconic "Roman Arch" near the bus station, where participants are greeted with panoramic views of rolling hills as they step onto a lush greenway. Soon after, runners will encounter their first major challenge: climbing up to "La Peña Rubia," followed closely by the steep and demanding ascent known as “Ace of Cups,” which stretches over two kilometers at an average gradient of 40%. This climb is both physically and mentally taxing but offers breathtaking views once you reach the summit. After a brief descent, runners will face another significant uphill push to "Pico del Águila," the highest point of the race. The ascent here covers five kilometers with an average slope of 10%, providing ample opportunity for competitors to test their endurance and resolve. Upon reaching the halfway mark at the renowned “de las migas” refreshment station, runners will find themselves greeted by a community atmosphere before embarking on what many consider the most challenging part of the race. This section delves into the heart of "La Sierra del Quípar," where technical climbs such as "Campanario," "Collado Alto," and another ascent through “Ace of Cups” await over just eleven kilometers. As runners near the top of the reservoir, they will be rewarded with distant views of Cehegín. However, before reaching this point, there is one last climb to conquer: the steep path leading up to the "Cruz de Cehegín." Once at the summit, competitors can take a moment to appreciate their accomplishment. The final stretch offers runners a thrilling descent and an entrance into the finish line via a walkway under the Roman Arch. This dramatic setting marks the end of what is truly a memorable and challenging race experience in scenic surroundings. This event promises not only physical challenges but also stunning landscapes, making it a unique adventure for serious trail runners looking to push their limits while enjoying some of Spain’s most breathtaking terrain.
