About the Event

The European Open Leipa is an exhilarating sled dog racing competition, organized in collaboration with the Sled Dog Sports Association of Saxony and the Glücksburger Heide Heritage Association. This unique event offers mushers from across Europe a chance to showcase their skills on challenging winter trails.
Participants will navigate scenic routes through the picturesque landscapes around Leipa, where pristine snow blankets rolling hills and dense forests. The competition is designed for both seasoned racers and newcomers looking to gain experience in this thrilling sport. Comprehensive training sessions are available for those who wish to hone their mushing techniques without competing.
The event runs from October 28, 2026, through November 4, 2026, providing ample time for athletes to acclimate to the environment and prepare for race day. All competitors must familiarize themselves with the official rules and guidelines provided by the organizers prior to registration. This ensures a smooth experience for everyone involved.
Whether you're an experienced musher or just starting out, the European Open Leipa promises an unforgettable adventure in one of Europe's most scenic winter settings. Join us for what is sure to be an exciting week of racing and camaraderie among sled dog enthusiasts.
For detailed information about registration requirements and event schedules, please refer to the official announcement documents provided by the organizers.
