ESSEX TRIATHLONS 2027 - HANNINGFIELD RESERVOIR

Immerse yourself in the serene beauty of Hanningfield Reservoir, located between Billericay and Chelmsford in Essex, for an unforgettable day of triathlon racing. This stunning venue offers 870 acres of water surrounded by mature woodland, providing a tranquil setting that caters to both newcomers and seasoned athletes alike.
The event features two main categories: Sprint Triathlon and Standard Triathlon, along with Aquabike options for those who prefer cycling or swimming without the run component. Whether you're tackling the 750m swim, 25km cycle, and 5km run in the sprint format, or taking on the longer distances of a full triathlon (1500m swim, 38km cycle, and 10km run), there’s an option to suit every ability level. The reservoir's scenic trails and peaceful country roads make for a picturesque race environment.
The open water swim offers swimmers the chance to experience Hanningfield Reservoir in its entirety, with full details available upon registration. All races start at 8:00 AM sharp, allowing participants ample time to enjoy the morning tranquility before the excitement begins.
Transition areas are meticulously organized for a seamless race day experience, complete with secure racking spots and small storage options for personal items. Wetsuit use is optional but recommended due to expected warm water temperatures, enhancing buoyancy and comfort in the reservoir’s waters.
Upon crossing the finish line, all participants will be rewarded with bespoke event metal medals, complimentary snacks, refreshments, and a chance to shop Wild Deer merchandise at special race day prices. Free parking is available for everyone attending the event, ensuring easy access to Hanningfield Waterside Park located off Giffords Lane in Chelmsford (CM3 8HX). Please note that dogs are not permitted around the reservoir due to its designation as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).
