Epney Trail Run 2027

The Epney Trail Run invites runners to explore the picturesque village of Epney in Gloucestershire for an 11-mile (17 km) trail adventure. This community-focused event, which includes around 70 meters of elevation gain, starts and finishes at The Anchor Inn.
Participants will follow a clearly marked circular route along the scenic Gloucester to Sharpness Canal towpath and local public footpaths, including parts of the Severn Way. The terrain is predominantly flat but offers varied surfaces with sections of trail and towpath. While suitable for first-time trail runners, participants should be prepared for potentially uneven or muddy conditions depending on weather.
The race begins at 10:00 AM and features one aid station approximately halfway through to provide support along the route. Marshals will guide runners at key points, ensuring a safe experience throughout. All runners must complete within three hours; those who do not finish by 13:00 may be withdrawn for safety reasons.
The event is licensed by the Trail Running Association and adheres to UK Athletics rules. Each entry includes a donation of £3 to support the Canal & River Trust, helping maintain public access along canal paths. The minimum age requirement is 17 years on race day.
Runners are responsible for their own safety throughout the course and must adhere to instructions from organizers and marshals at all times. Consideration should be given to other path users as this route remains open to the public during the event.
