Elkhorn Relay

The Elkhorn Relay returns for its 11th year as RUNOR Racing Co. invites teams to explore Eastern Oregon's breathtaking landscapes on an 85-mile journey through the Pacific Northwest. Starting at Hilgard Junction State Park, runners will follow old Highway 244 south along the Grande Ronde River before tackling a challenging ascent into the backcountry via scenic gravel mountain roads. The route ascends to over 7,400 feet as teams navigate stunning trails leading up to Anthony Lakes Ski Resort.
Each team member experiences unique terrain and elevation changes throughout the day, culminating in an unforgettable trail leg at the resort's summit. With six friends by your side, you'll conquer nearly 6,000 feet of climbing while enjoying panoramic views of the Elkhorn Mountains. This relay offers a perfect blend of scenic beauty, camaraderie, and adventure that keeps participants coming back year after year.
Registration is key to securing your spot in this intricate event; early registration from October 22, 2026, through December 31, 2026, costs $500. Regular registration runs January 1 - May 31 at $550 and late registration June 1 - July 10 for $600.
