EKIDEN de LAVAL

Join the 14th edition of Laval's Ekiden Race on Sunday, March 14, 2027! This exciting relay race covers a total distance of 42.195 kilometers and involves six athletes running different segments:
- The first runner completes 5 km.
- The second runner runs 10 km.
- The third athlete takes on another 5 km stretch.
- The fourth participant tackles the longest segment at 10 km.
- The fifth runner covers a 5-kilometer leg.
- Finally, the sixth and last runner finishes with a challenging 7.195 kilometers.
Each team must register their runners in sequence through Klikego to ensure smooth transitions during the race. Only one relay can be completed by each athlete throughout the event. This year’s Ekiden de Laval is also serving as a qualifier for the French National Ekiden Championships, adding an extra layer of competition and prestige.
The maximum duration allowed for completing this grueling course is 4 hours and 30 minutes. If the fifth runner has not reached the transition point within 3 hours and 40 minutes, they will be disqualified to ensure everyone's safety.
Starting and finishing at Cour de la Résistance in Laval’s Square de Boston, participants can expect two key water stations: one near Pont de l'Europe (Square de Boston) and another right at the finish line. It is essential that runners bring their own reusable cups for hydration; no disposable cups will be provided.
The race welcomes all athletes from cadet to master categories who were born in 2011 or earlier, regardless of whether they are licensed through the French Athletics Federation (FFA) or have completed a Parcours de Prévention Santé. Participants must present either an FFA competition license, Athlé entreprise license, Athlé running license, Pass’running, or proof of completing the PPS.
Timing will be conducted using chip technology to ensure accurate results for all competitors. Dossards (race numbers) should be worn at the front and remain fully visible throughout the race; pins are recommended.
The event features five distinct challenges: men’s category, women’s category, masters’ category, mixed teams with exactly three male and three female runners, and a special challenge for non-FFA associations including businesses. This structure encourages diverse participation across various demographics.
Dossards can be collected at Decathlon Laval (Rue du Commandant Cousteau) on Saturday, March 13th from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM or directly at the race site between 7:00 AM and 8:15 AM on Sunday. Participants may also authorize a third party to collect their dossards by presenting valid identification.
