Kim High, the visionary behind the 5K, Dr. Opal Lee, and Dione Sims have suffered from the diagnosis of diabetes.Ms. Opal manages her symptoms with medication, while Kim has been able to control her diagnosis with dietary changes and Dione through weight loss and a healthier lifestyle.In addition to raising awareness of healthy food access, promoting wellness, and elevating education, the 5K Fun Run will help both organizations implement a fresh market stand on their farms, allowing residents to access fresh, healthy foods more consistently.
