DESERT ULTRA MARATHON

The Desert Ultra, an epic 250km self-sufficient ultra marathon through the heart of Namibia's ancient and unforgiving Namib Desert, is set to challenge runners like never before. This grueling race spans five stages over five days, each day pushing participants into new realms of endurance and resilience.
Starting in the scorching heat of early morning, temperatures can soar past 50°C as you navigate through sweltering sand dunes and vast stretches of scrubland. The relentless sun casts a shimmering haze on the horizon, making it feel like an endless expanse awaits your every step. As night falls, the landscape transforms into a chilly desert tableau with evening lows dipping to around 5°C.
The race begins with the Damara Dash, where you'll face some of the most challenging terrain right from day one. The Spitzkoppe Mountains rise majestically in the distance, serving as an ever-present reminder of your journey's scale and beauty. Each stage offers unique challenges, testing not just physical endurance but mental fortitude.
Base camp is nestled among the iconic granite boulders of the Spitzkoppe Mountains, providing a stark contrast to the sandy expanses you've crossed during the day. Here, runners can regroup before tackling another day's journey. The finish line at Save the Rhino Outpost marks both an end and a celebration of overcoming one of Africa’s toughest courses.
Participants will need to be entirely self-sufficient for this event, carrying all necessary gear as they traverse through some of Earth’s most extreme environments. With only 60 spots available, acceptance into the Desert Ultra is highly competitive, ensuring that each runner faces an exclusive and unparalleled challenge.
