Deeside Way Ultra Race

The Deeside Way Ultra, set for March 13, 2027, is a grueling yet scenic ultra race that spans approximately 33 miles along the old Deeside Railway Line. Starting and finishing at Duthie Park in Aberdeen, this challenging event offers runners stunning Scottish landscapes as they make their way out to Banchory and back.
Registration begins at 7:30 AM on race day, with a strict pre-entry policy that includes no refunds or deferrals once entries are closed on February 28, 2027. Participants must be aged 18 years or older by the event date and will encounter well-marked trails but should still rely on their own navigation skills.
The route features water stations at approximately 8 miles (one-quarter point), 16.5 miles (halfway mark), and 25 miles (three-quarters point). To minimize waste, runners are encouraged to bring reusable cups or bottles for refills along the course. Drop bags can be left at these points but must fit into a large freezer zip bag.
Safety is paramount with two cut-off times: 12:30 PM at the halfway checkpoint and 14:30 PM at three-quarters of the way, ensuring all runners are accounted for before sunset. A sweeper will leave from the half-way point to assist those lagging behind in reaching the final cutoff safely.
The event is inclusive, welcoming participants regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation, fostering a supportive community atmosphere. Essential kit requirements include waterproof clothing and gear due to unpredictable March weather conditions, ensuring runners are prepared for any climate challenges.
Runners must be self-sufficient throughout the race, with no support runners allowed but friends can meet you at designated points along the course if needed. The event promises an unforgettable blend of natural beauty and rigorous competition in a welcoming environment.
