Deeside 66

The D66, an extreme 103-kilometer out-and-back race, challenges runners to conquer the rugged terrain of Aberdeenshire. Starting at midnight on March 13, 2027, from Duthie Park in Aberdeen, this grueling event requires participants to complete a minimum distance of 50 kilometers within the past year due to its challenging weather conditions and early start time.
The route follows the historic Deeside Railway Line out to Aboyne and back, offering scenic views through snow-covered landscapes. Runners must navigate well-marked trails but are responsible for ensuring they stay on course. The race features four drop bag stations at key points along the way: Banchory (17 miles), halfway in Aboyne, D33 half-way point (49 miles), and three-quarters of the way back to Aberdeen (57 miles). Each station provides water refill services but no plastic cups are distributed; runners must bring their own hydration containers.
Three strict cut-off times ensure safety: 08:00 AM at mile 33, 12:30 PM at mile 49, and 2:30 PM at mile 57. Failure to meet these deadlines will result in disqualification. The race is open only through pre-entry by February 28, with no refunds or deferrals allowed.
The D66 welcomes all runners regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation, ensuring an inclusive environment for everyone's endurance journey.
