Dark Sky Trail Lauwersmeer

Immer welcome to the Dark Sky Trail, an extraordinary evening of canicross, trail running, and walking set against one of Europe's darkest skies. This unique event takes place on Saturday, March 20, 2027.
Participants will experience a serene yet challenging journey through the tranquil landscape around Lauwersoog under the cover of night. For those joining as walkers, the route spans approximately 10 kilometers and is expected to take about two hours and fifteen minutes due to the need for careful navigation in low light conditions. Trail runners and canicross enthusiasts will tackle the same distance but at a brisker pace, completing their run around one hour and forty-five minutes.
The event kicks off with an exciting start sequence:
- Canitrailers: 7:00 PM
- Trailrunners: 7:15 PM
- Walkers: 7:30 PM
Registration fees are set at €15 per participant, contributing to the Dark Sky Park Lauwersmeer through a donation of €2.50 from each entry fee.
Upon crossing the finish line, participants will be greeted with a warm atmosphere and refreshments waiting for them. The event not only offers an unforgettable adventure but also supports efforts against light pollution, which is increasingly recognized as a significant environmental issue.
The starting point, Activiteitencentrum Lauwersnest at De Rug 1 in 9976VT Lauwersoog, serves as the hub of activity and information for all participants. Pre-registration closes on March 17, 2027, so be sure to secure your spot early to avoid disappointment.
