Dark Skies Run Race Series

Immerse yourself in the celestial beauty of Kielder Waterside as you embark on an unforgettable night run under some of Europe's darkest skies. The 'Dark Skies Runs' offers runners a unique opportunity to experience the awe-inspiring starlit landscape that earned Kielder its gold-tier Dark Sky Park status from the International Dark Skies Association in 2013.
As darkness falls, you'll find yourself surrounded by an enchanting sea of stars, with thousands of celestial bodies twinkling above. The tranquil waters of Kielder Reservoir reflect a glittering canopy overhead, creating a mesmerizing spectacle that captures the essence of night-time wilderness.
The route winds through serene forests and along picturesque lakeshores, offering breathtaking views at every turn. With minimal light pollution to obscure your view, you'll be able to observe constellations, planets, and even distant galaxies with clarity rarely seen in urban settings.
This event celebrates not just the run itself but also the profound connection between humanity and the cosmos. It's an evening where runners can lose themselves in nature’s grandeur while challenging their endurance under a starry sky. Whether you're an avid runner or simply someone who appreciates the beauty of the night, this experience promises to be both inspiring and unforgettable.
