Dargavel Village 5km

On April 25, 2027, runners are invited to participate in the inaugural Dargavel 5KM road race, organized by the newly established Dargavel and Bishopton Run Club. Founded by two local business owners who share a passion for community building and personal growth, this club has quickly become an integral part of both villages since its launch just months ago.
The event kicks off at 10am on Sunday in front of Dargavel Primary School, with registration starting at 8:10 am inside the school's assembly hall. The scenic route begins within the primary school grounds and ventures into Central Park for a loop around its perimeter before exiting onto a quiet residential street for about 200 meters. Runners then re-enter the park to complete their second lap, this time without leaving it.
The flat and fast course is ideal for both beginners looking for an easy-to-follow route with clear signage and marshals, as well as competitive runners aiming for personal bests. After crossing the finish line back at Dargavel Primary School, participants will receive a medal designed by one of the local primary school students who won a special design competition.
Prizes are up for grabs in several categories: overall male and female winners along with second and third place finishers; age group champions (v40, v50, v60, v70+); and additional awards if an age category winner also secures one of the top three spots. The first-place trophies will be presented by representatives from local businesses in Renfrewshire.
With a limit of 300 entries due to limited space along the course, entrants should note that there is no refund policy once registration fees are paid and no bib transfers allowed under any circumstances. Scottish Athletics members can enjoy a £3 discount on their entry fee by providing proof of membership upon sign-up.
The day promises to be an inspiring celebration of community spirit and fitness in Dargavel and Bishopton, with plenty of support from fellow runners and enthusiastic volunteers along the way.
