Cruel Jewel 50 offers runners an immersive trail adventure through the enchanting Chattahoochee National Forest, nestled within Georgia's North Mountains. This point-to-point journey spans 57.5 miles and combines rugged terrain with breathtaking natural beauty.
The race begins in Blairsville and winds its way to Blue Ridge along a challenging course that includes over 10 aid stations strategically placed throughout the route. Runners will traverse more than 50 miles of winding trails, crossing paths with historic landmarks like an iconic steel bridge spanning the Toccoa River, while also navigating steep ascents and descents on rocky ridge lines.
The trail is punctuated by dense forests filled with lush ferns and ancient poplar trees that provide both shade and a sense of history. The Dragon's Spine section offers runners some of the most technical single-track trails in the area, testing their skills as they navigate through roots and rocks along steep inclines and declines.
With over 17,000 feet of elevation gain and loss throughout the race course, Cruel Jewel 50 challenges even seasoned trail runners. The event aims to provide a memorable experience that showcases the natural splendor of Georgia's North Mountains while pushing participants' limits on both body and mind.
Race packets will be available for pickup at least two weeks before the start date, ensuring all competitors are well-prepared with necessary gear and information.
