CRPRC 5K FANCY DRESS FUN RUN

Clwb Rhedeg Pontardawe Running Club invites runners to participate in their festive Christmas 5k fun run on December 20, 2026. The race winds through the scenic countryside paths around the charming town of Pontardawe, offering participants a mix of off-road trails and paved pathways.
Registration for the event takes place at The Pontardawe Inn (Y Gwachel) from 9:45 am to 10:45 am, where runners can collect their numbers. A warm-up session starts promptly at 10:45 am before the race kicks off at 11:00 am.
The course begins on the Alloy Industrial Estate and swiftly transitions onto a park trail, leading runners along the picturesque riverside path past the "Riverside Centre." The route then follows the canal towpath back into town via Herbert Street. Runners will pass through an underpass near shops, leisure facilities, and schools before reaching Trebanos where they turn left to follow River Tawe all the way to the finish line at The Pontardawe Inn.
Participants are encouraged to dress up in festive costumes for added fun and camaraderie. All finishers receive a commemorative medal and a bottle of water upon crossing the finish line, followed by an awards ceremony inside the pub featuring mulled wine and mince pies. While there is no chip timing due to its casual nature as a fun run rather than competitive race, spot prizes will be awarded for specific finishing positions such as 10th, 25th, and 40th place runners.
The event promises an enjoyable atmosphere with plenty of cheer from fellow participants and local community members.
Participants must be at least 18 years old to join in the festivities.
