Kick off your running season at Belfast Playing Fields in Mallusk on January 3, 2027, where Northern Ireland's cross country tradition comes alive. Known for hosting some of the region’s most memorable races, this historic venue offers a challenging and authentic course that has seen countless athletes push their limits.
The Crossan Cup & Shield event is more than just a race; it’s an opportunity to experience classic cross-country racing in its purest form. Whether you’re aiming for a strong start to your season or simply looking to enjoy the camaraderie of like-minded runners, Mallusk promises an unforgettable day filled with competition and tradition.
Junior athletes will find this event particularly rewarding as they prepare for upcoming competitions such as District Championships and Schools Cross Country events. The races are designed to provide young talent with valuable experience on a genuine cross-country course while competing against some of the best up-and-coming runners in Northern Ireland.
For veteran competitors, there’s an additional race for men aged 60 and over who will run alongside senior ladies (ages 45+) covering a distance of 6 kilometers. While winners are declared exclusively from those aged 60+, all participants can enjoy the unique atmosphere and challenge themselves on this historic ground.
Join us in Mallusk to be part of an event that celebrates not only competition but also the rich heritage of cross country running, inspiring both current and future generations of athletes.
