Cloudland Canyon Campout by Wandering Runner invites trail runners for an unforgettable training weekend, featuring some of the finest trails Northwest Georgia has to offer. This two-day adventure promises double-digit mileage on treasured routes, perfect for both seasoned veterans and beginners looking to make new friends.
The event begins with a group camping experience at a private property near Cloudland Canyon State Park, offering breathtaking views and easy access to pristine trails. Participants will explore the stunning canyon and waterfalls of Cloudland Canyon on Saturday, followed by an exploration of Lula Lake Land Trust's iconic Lula Falls on Sunday. The weekend is designed for those who love scenic runs amidst nature’s beauty.
Accommodation options include tent camping ($199/person), car camping ($199/person), or RV sites with electric hookups ($249/person, limited to two spots). For runners preferring not to camp but still wanting to join the fun, a "group runs only" option is available for $49.99.
The weekend kicks off on Friday evening at 4 PM with check-in and a group dinner before an exciting night run/hike starting at 8 PM. Saturday starts early with breakfast followed by a guided run through Cloudland Canyon State Park, covering approximately 16 miles. On Sunday, participants will embark on another scenic adventure from the campsite into Lula Lake Land Trust for about 14 miles.
Each day includes optional shorter or longer routes to accommodate varying fitness levels and goals. The interactive maps provided ensure that runners stay oriented throughout their journey while enjoying professional photography by Laurie Stevens to capture memorable moments.
The campground offers basic amenities such as electricity, running water, grills, a firepit for s’mores, an outdoor shower, and portable toilets. Participants are responsible for bringing all necessary camping gear like tents, cooking equipment, food, and trail shoes.
