CHOPWELL WOODS CHRISTMAS TRAIL RACES

Celebrate the holiday season with friends and family at Chopwell Woods Christmas Trail Runs, returning to this enchanting woodland setting just outside Gateshead. Managed by Forestry England, Chopwell Wood spans 360 hectares of mixed forest, offering a serene backdrop for runners of all ages.
The event features three distinct courses tailored to different abilities: the Family Mile (ages 3-11), the 4-mile run (for those aged 11 and up), and an 8-mile challenge designed specifically for participants 16 years or older. Families can enjoy a free adult entry with each child's registration, making it a perfect way to spend quality time together.
Cani-cross enthusiasts are welcome too, as the event allows one controlled dog per runner. Start times vary from 9:30am for the Family Mile to 10:20am for the longest distance run, ensuring that everyone has plenty of space and quiet trails during their race.
Race day will be marked by Live Chip-Timing courtesy of Timing Up North, providing accurate results for all participants. Upon crossing the finish line, runners in both the 4-mile and 8-mile events can look forward to receiving an event medal, merchandise, as well as treats like mince pies, chocolates, and a refreshing drink.
For those looking to commemorate their achievement, T-shirts are available for purchase during registration at £14 each. Free parking is provided on-site but spaces are limited; organizers encourage walking or carpooling where possible.
