The CHAT in the Park 2026 returns to Spruce Grove, Alberta, Canada on Saturday, June 20th. This unique event celebrates Christmas spirit with a summer twist, offering runners of all ages and abilities the chance to participate in festive races through Central Park.
Race morning finds participants assembling at the park's entrance located at 9 Agrena Rd, Spruce Grove AB T7X 2C6. The atmosphere is electric as families gather under the bright June sun; the air crackling with excitement for a day filled with holiday cheer and community spirit. On offer are three race distances: the 1K Candy Cane Cruise, perfect for those looking to keep it light; the 5K Reindeer Rush, ideal for walkers, joggers, and families; and the 10K Double Delivery, designed for those feeling extra festive who wish to run our 5K loop twice. Every participant will receive a swag bag filled with goodies upon completion.
The CHAT in the Park tradition began six years ago as a way to support the Communication Health and Therapy (C.H.A.T) Society, which has been providing vital communication health services to adults with acquired challenges since its inception. Over the years, hundreds of participants have joined this event, making it not just a race but also an opportunity for local residents to come together in celebration.
Central Park offers a scenic route through firm and slightly soft trails under moderate UV index conditions on June mornings. The course layout includes one loop for the 5K races, providing runners with double the scenery and twice the workout when they choose the 10K Double Delivery distance. Start time is at 10:00 am sharp, followed by a finish around noon.
The weather promises to be perfect on race day; early morning temperatures will range from comfortable highs in the low seventies Fahrenheit, with clear skies offering a gentle breeze that may pick up slightly as the sun climbs higher in the sky. Runners should expect moderate UV index levels, necessitating sunscreen and hats for comfort throughout the event.
