Canterbury 10 Mile Road Race

About the Event

Nestled within the historic city of Canterbury, the Canterbury 10 Mile is an enduring annual event that has been delighting runners since its inception. This year’s edition promises to be as thrilling and rewarding as ever, with a course layout that showcases some of Kent's most scenic landscapes.
The race starts at the University of Kent Sports Centre in the heart of the city (CT2 7NL), offering participants easy access via extensive parking facilities nearby. The route itself is largely traffic-free and undulating, winding through picturesque villages like Tyler Hill and Radfall before returning to Canterbury along the Crab and Winkle Way.
Runners will find a supportive atmosphere throughout their journey with clear signage and enthusiastic marshals guiding them around every turn. Two water stations are strategically placed at 3.5 miles and 7.8 miles respectively, ensuring that participants stay hydrated during this challenging yet rewarding race.
Registration takes place at the University of Kent Sports Centre from 7:15 AM on race day or can be done ahead of time between 3 PM and 6 PM on Saturday, January 20th in the foyer area. Race numbers and timing chips are distributed alphabetically by surname; please ensure you queue correctly to avoid delays.
Participants will appreciate the convenience of having a baggage drop-off point right next to the race HQ within Small Hall 2, making it easy to leave belongings safely before heading out on the course. The sports center also offers ample toilet facilities and refreshments for those arriving early or staying after their run.
Upon crossing the finish line back at Sports Centre Road near Park Wood Road around noon, runners will be greeted with a warm welcome from volunteers who hand out medals and hydration packs to celebrate their achievement. For those interested in capturing memories of this special day, professional photographers are stationed along the route for free download access after the race.
Cash prizes totaling over £500 await top male and female finishers as well as age group winners (40+, 50+, 60+ and 70+), encouraging friendly competition among runners. Team awards also add an extra layer of camaraderie, with trophies for both men's and women’s squads.
For those looking to improve their personal best times or simply enjoy a scenic run through Canterbury’s charming countryside, the Canterbury 10 Mile offers everything needed to make this year’s race one to remember.
To ensure a smooth start on race day, familiarize yourself with parking options including Giles Lane (CT2 7NB), Darwin/Rutherford car parks (CT2 7NZ) and overflow lots marked at Keynes/Eliot. Remember that only bone conducting headphones are permitted during the event for safety reasons.
For more detailed information about course maps, schedules, or any other queries related to race day logistics, visit www.netiming.co.uk after crossing the finish line where comprehensive results will be posted shortly afterwards.
