Join us for an exciting multi-distance running challenge along the picturesque Grand Western Canal near Sampford Peverell, just minutes from Tiverton and the M5. This unique event offers both a thrilling 7-hour endurance run and a shorter but equally engaging 10k race.
The 7-hour Challenge Event invites runners to explore the scenic canal path as many times as they wish within the allotted time frame. Each lap is an out-and-back route, allowing participants to enjoy stunning views of the waterway while also encountering fellow competitors on each loop. The course starts and finishes at Sampford Peverell Village Hall, with a turnaround point near Burlsecombe where runners can refuel or rest.
For those looking for a shorter but still challenging race, there's an option for a 10k event that begins separately from the main challenge run. This route follows the same scenic canal path and features dedicated aid stations along the way to ensure you stay hydrated and fueled throughout your journey.
The out-and-back nature of each lap fosters a vibrant community atmosphere as runners see familiar faces on every pass, creating an encouraging environment for all participants. The 7-hour event allows athletes to set their own pace and distance goals, whether aiming to complete multiple laps or pushing towards longer distances like half marathons (2 laps), full marathons (4 laps), or even ultramarathon feats of endurance.
Awards will be given out at the end of the day for both events. In the Challenge Event, prizes go to the male and female runners who cover the most distance within 7 hours. The 10k race offers awards in first place for men and women as well. All finishers receive a bespoke medal commemorating their achievement.
Additional amenities include secure bag drop at Sampford Peverell Village Hall and convenient access points along the route to ensure that runners can comfortably enjoy this scenic adventure. Start times are set for 8:30 AM (Challenge Event) with separate starting lines at 9:00 AM and throughout the day for the 10k option.
