Set against the rolling hills of Derbyshire’s High Peak, the Papermill Inn Run offers runners an engaging and scenic 5-mile journey on rural lanes. Starting at The Papermill Inn in Whitehough, this single-lap course presents a mix of challenging climbs totaling 880 feet (268 meters) before leveling off for the final mile.
The route is designed to cater to most runners but isn’t ideal for setting personal best times due to its undulating terrain. Participants should be prepared for sections that demand strength and endurance, while enjoying quieter country roads that remain open to traffic throughout the race—meaning no earphones or similar devices are allowed except bone conduction earphones.
Race HQ is located at The Papermill Inn, where all participants can collect their numbers starting from 6:15 PM on the day of the event. Those aiming for top honors will be competing against last year’s course records: men must beat a time of 27 minutes and 21 seconds, while women need to outpace 30 minutes and 39 seconds to claim a £50 cash prize.
In line with their commitment to sustainability, the race organizers are encouraging eco-friendly travel options. Runners who arrive by public transport or on foot will receive a free beer voucher worth £2 upon registration. Additionally, car-sharing groups of four or more individuals can redeem a £10 discount at The Papermill Inn for each occupant.
