BRM300 - Défi Sancerre 300

On April 4, 2027, cyclists will gather at the Guy Moquet Hall in Fleury-les-Aubrais for the BRM 300 "Défi Sancerre 300," a qualifying race for the prestigious Paris-Brest-Paris event. Departing between 4:00 and 5:00 AM, participants will embark on a 300-kilometer journey that takes them through picturesque landscapes of central France.
The route begins along the Loire River before heading towards Sancerre, known for its vineyards and rolling hills. After passing through this charming town, riders face a challenging descent into the Berry region's undulating terrain. The course continues alongside the Cher river and then cuts across the vast forests of the Sologne en route back to Fleury.
Participants should be prepared for unpredictable wind conditions that can test their endurance as they navigate rural roads and small villages. Cyclists have several control points along the way, including Saint-Benoît-sur-Loire, Sancerre, Mehun-sur-Yèvre, and Romorantin, where they must validate checkpoints to ensure qualification.
The race is conducted under Audax Club Parisien rules, emphasizing self-sufficiency on open roads. Cyclists receive a route map at the start along with control cards for validation purposes. The journey includes four mandatory check points before midnight to officially complete the challenge.
Riders can also opt to cross the Briare aqueduct bridge as part of their adventure, adding about 4 kilometers to their total distance but offering an iconic landmark experience. Amenities such as a departure and arrival refreshment station, three nearby parking lots within walking distance from the start line, baggage storage at the starting point, and showers are available for racers.
With its blend of scenic beauty and competitive spirit, this BRM 300 is not just a cycling event but an immersive journey through some of France's most charming landscapes.
