Brasstown Bald Buster

Experience Georgia’s highest peak at the Brasstown Bald Buster on April 24, 2027. Hosted by Project 42 Running, this scenic 5K road race challenges runners with an ascent of over 1,700 feet in just under three miles. Nestled in North Georgia's stunning mountain landscapes, participants will enjoy breathtaking views while tackling the course’s steep climb to Brasstown Bald.
Runners and ruckers are invited to push their limits on this challenging yet rewarding route. For those feeling adventurous, aim for Adam Pinkston’s impressive 5K course record of 24:40 minutes, which has stood unbroken for over three decades. Ruck participants carry additional weight—men with 25 pounds and women with 15 pounds—to add an extra layer of difficulty.
Race day activities kick off early at the Brasstown Bald Visitor Center & Recreation Area in Hiawassee, GA. Mandatory pre-race briefings begin at 7:30 AM, followed by a start time of 7:45 AM sharp. Be sure to catch one of the shuttle buses down from the top; the last bus departs promptly at 7:20 AM.
All participants receive commemorative medals and T-shirts upon completion, with guaranteed shirts for those who register before April 10, 2027. Awards are given to the top three finishers in both divisions.
After crossing the finish line, take some time to explore the surrounding area—whether it’s hiking on miles of local trails or enjoying a visit to Vogel State Park and historic Helen town. The Brasstown Bald Buster offers more than just a race; it's an adventure into nature and personal challenge.
