Blackdown Hill Challenge

About the Event

The Blackdown Hill Challenge is an exhilarating 10km trail run organized by Midhurst Milers and Fernhurst Recreation Ground Trust. This race offers runners a thrilling journey through the rolling hills of Sussex, with stunning views stretching across Surrey and Hampshire.
Starting from Fernhurst Recreation Ground, participants will encounter a challenging climb that reaches its peak at Temple of the Winds on Blackdown Hill, where they’ll enjoy breathtaking vistas before descending back down to the finish line. The elevation gain of 856 feet adds an extra layer of challenge for runners looking to push their limits.
For those seeking a more manageable distance, there’s also a less strenuous 4.5km trail race designed for adults who want to experience the beauty and excitement without the full climb. Additionally, children have opportunities through various junior fell races that wind through the foothills, with distances of 5km (151 feet ascent) and 2km available.
The event is sanctioned by both the Trail Running Association and UK Athletics, ensuring a safe and well-regulated environment for all competitors. Schools are invited to participate in an exciting team competition as part of their day out on Blackdown Hill.
Registration must be completed online prior to the race date; no entries will be accepted at the venue itself. All adult participants must be 16 years or older, and unfortunately, dogs are not permitted on this course due to safety regulations for all runners involved.
Don’t miss your chance to take part in what promises to be an unforgettable day of running amidst some of England’s most picturesque landscapes.
