BigSky, the grand finale of BigFeat Events' Classic Element Trail Series, invites trail runners to embrace the vastness and freedom of the sky. Scheduled for Sunday, September 20th, 2026, this awe-inspiring event takes place in the heart of the New Forest National Park at Hyde Common. Dawn breaks as participants gather on Hyde Common, one of the highest points within the park, ready to embark on a journey that showcases some of England's most breathtaking landscapes. The route winds through open plains and meandering forest trails, offering panoramic views stretching from horizon to horizon. Wildlife abounds in this pristine natural setting, creating an immersive experience for runners. BigSky offers three distances: 18 miles, the marathon distance, and a challenging ultramarathon of 50 kilometers. Each course is meticulously marked with clear signage and well-staffed by dedicated volunteers at aid stations. The event features two aid stations for the shorter route, three for the full marathon, and four for the ultra-distance runners. These stations provide essential hydration options, including water and flat coke, as well as a variety of snacks to keep energy levels up throughout the race. Registration begins early on the morning of the event at 6:30 AM, with bib collection available until 7:00 AM. The start times vary slightly for each distance—18 miles beginning promptly at 7:30 AM, followed by the marathon runners at 7:20 AM and ultramarathoners at 7:15 AM. Participants must carry a minimum of 500ml of fluid during their run due to unpredictable weather conditions. The organizers recommend downloading the GPX file for route guidance as an additional precautionary measure, though the course is clearly marked with arrows and signage throughout its entirety. Upon completion, all runners will receive a bespoke finishers medal at Hyde Common and have the opportunity to relax while taking in more of the stunning New Forest scenery from this high vantage point. For those interested in contributing to environmental conservation efforts, BigSky partners with Trees Not Tees, allowing participants to opt for tree planting instead of receiving their traditional race medals. BigSky promises an unforgettable trail running experience that celebrates both personal achievement and respect for nature's beauty. With its relaxed atmosphere, stunning scenery, and well-organized support system, it stands out as a must-participate event in the Classic Element Trail Series lineup.
