Bighorn Road offers cyclists an unforgettable journey through Colorado's stunning landscapes, blending classic road riding with adventurous off-road segments along quiet and scenic routes. Participants can choose between three distances: 80 miles, 60 miles, or a shorter yet still exhilarating 31-mile route. The Stone Sheep course at 80 miles is the ultimate adventure for seasoned cyclists seeking a full day of riding. Spanning approximately 5,000 feet in elevation gain along the Eagle and Colorado Rivers, this challenging ride includes about 20 miles on hard-packed dirt roads that are ideal for road bikes. The route offers breathtaking views and an immersive experience through some of Colorado's most picturesque terrain. For those looking to balance adventure with a more manageable distance is the Fannin Sheep at 60 miles. This course combines approximately 10 miles of off-road riding on hard-packed dirt, providing ample opportunity for cyclists to enjoy Bighorn’s unique character without committing to the full day required by the longer route. The shortest yet no less scenic option is the Dall Sheep, a 31-mile out-and-back journey that stays entirely on paved roads. This course features rolling terrain and punchy climbs, winding through some of Colorado's finest twisting roads for an exhilarating ride without sacrificing comfort or convenience. E-bike categories are available for both the 60- and 31-mile routes, ensuring riders have a range of options to suit their preferences and capabilities. Bighorn Road wouldn't be possible without the support of the Town of Gypsum. Their assistance allows us to offer onsite camping with showers and bathrooms during race weekend, providing cyclists with all the amenities needed for an enjoyable pre-race experience. Whether you're up for a full day on the bike or prefer something more manageable yet equally rewarding, Bighorn Road has a distance that suits your riding style perfectly. Join us as we explore Colorado's beauty from the saddle of our bikes. Choose 80 miles for the ultimate adventure, 60 miles to balance challenge and comfort, or opt for the shorter but scenic Dall Sheep route. We'll take care of everything so you can focus on enjoying every mile.
