On March 20, 2027, runners and walkers will convene at Brush Bowls & Sports Club in Loughborough for an unforgettable day of exploration across the scenic Charnwood landscape. This LDWA event offers both a short loop route and a longer journey through some of Leicestershire's most picturesque countryside. Participants can choose between two routes: the shorter one circles around Outwoods, Blackbrook Reservoir, Mount St Bernard Abbey, Copt Oak, Beacon Hill, and back to Brush Bowls & Sports Club. The long route extends further into Newtown Linford, Bradgate Park, and Cropston village before looping back through Swithland Woods, Woodhouse Eaves, and the Outwoods. Registration opens at 7:00 AM with parking available at the clubhouse; car sharing is encouraged to minimize environmental impact. Walkers start from 7:00 AM until 8:00 AM while runners have a window from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM, both groups enjoying flexible start times. The event features three checkpoints along its course, with the third closing at 4:00 PM. Long route participants must reach Checkpoint 2 by noon; anyone arriving later will be redirected onto the short loop instead of continuing on the full distance. All entrants are expected to finish before 6:30 PM. Snacks and drinks await runners throughout their journey, with a hearty hot meal awaiting at the finish line back at Brush Bowls & Sports Club. Every participant receives a certificate upon completion as well as support from event marshals who ensure adherence to safety guidelines and time limits set for each route segment. For those looking to join or renew LDWA membership in advance of this event, it’s possible to secure insurance coverage by joining the organization annually for £15. Comprehensive details about entry requirements, rules, and conditions can be found on Brush Bowls Club's official website at www.brushbowlsclub.co.uk.
