The Hatfield Mileage Marathon invites runners to experience its swift and scenic route through the heart of Hertfordshire. The journey begins at The Forum on the bustling campus of University of Hertfordshire, where participants are greeted by a lively atmosphere before setting off along College Lane.
As you make your way past sweeping bends, the race transitions onto Alban Way—a favored path among local runners for its picturesque views and smooth terrain. This stretch offers a serene backdrop with lush greenery lining both sides as you continue towards Wilkins Green Lane. Here, runners will find themselves on an almost imperceptibly inclining route that gently climbs just 3 meters.
After crossing back over Alban Way onto Smallford Lane, the course takes another sweeping turn to Sleapcross Gardens, where meandering paths and a tranquil environment await. The race then leads you onto the A414 footpath, known for its super-flat surface and straight trajectory, providing an ideal setting for maintaining your pace.
The final leg of the journey sees runners taking Comet Way back towards Alban Way, eventually guiding them to their finish line at Race HQ on the University campus. This 5-mile course is celebrated not only for its speed but also for its seamless integration with Hatfield and St Albans' scenic landscapes, making it one of the fastest routes in the UK.
