ATW Colchester Friday Night Runs

The Essex County Championships is set to take place on August 13, 2027, offering runners of all abilities the chance to compete on an ideal course for setting personal bests. The evening kicks off at 5:30 PM with a fun one-mile run designed to encourage family and friends to cheer on participants.
At 6:00 PM, the main event begins with several categories of 5K races tailored to different levels of performance. For those aiming for faster times, there are specific divisions starting from 7:00 PM onwards, including elite women's and men's races scheduled at 8:30 PM and 9:00 PM respectively.
The course is a traffic-free, pancake-flat tarmac route that winds anticlockwise with no sharp turns. The finish line sits proudly on the main straight, ensuring clear visibility for spectators to cheer runners across the line. This setup not only provides an excellent environment for competitive racing but also accommodates beginners and juniaries looking to test their limits.
Participants can look forward to chip-timed races that will be recorded in Power of 10, allowing athletes to track their progress over time. Additionally, results from all categories are compiled into the Essex County Championships rankings across various age groups including Open, V40, V45, and more up to V70+.
For those hoping to represent Essex at a higher level, qualification criteria require participants to have lived in or been born within the county for 9 months. Athletes must also not compete in non-Essex events during the race year (September 1st - August 31st) and must wear their official club vest.
