Ashtead 10k & 2k fun run 2027

The Ashtead Running Group invites runners and fitness enthusiasts to participate in its annual Ashtead 10k and 2K fun run on September 12, 2027. This scenic race takes place entirely within the boundaries of Ashtead Common, a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) known for its diverse breeding bird population and rare decaying wood habitats that support unique invertebrate species.
The course winds through two ancient Scheduled Monuments: an intriguing Roman villa and a mysterious triangular earthwork. The terrain itself is undulating, offering runners a challenging yet rewarding experience as they navigate the rough tracks of Ashtead Common. Participants must be prepared for some steep inclines and declines along the way, making this race more than just a flat run.
The event takes place with the permission of the Ashtead Common Rangers and the Corporation of the City of London, ensuring that all necessary precautions are in place to protect both participants and wildlife alike. While hornet activity has been an issue in previous years due to a massed attack on runners back in 2010, race organizers cannot guarantee complete freedom from these insects despite not having seen them since then.
To enhance safety for everyone involved, the use of earphones during the run is strictly prohibited. This ensures that all participants are fully aware of their surroundings and can respond quickly to any unforeseen circumstances or instructions given by event officials.
In addition to providing an unforgettable running experience set against a backdrop of natural beauty, the Ashtead 10k aims to support local charities through its fundraising efforts. The entry fee includes processing fees, medical coverage, race licences and permits, as well as participation in Britain's 'greenest' race. All proceeds after covering event expenses are donated directly to charity.
Participants are encouraged to embrace eco-friendly travel options such as walking, cycling, or using public transport (the nearest train station is just a minute’s walk from the HQ/start). By choosing these methods of transportation, runners contribute to reducing the environmental impact associated with large-scale events like this one. Join us in making a difference both on and off the race course!
