Almost ”MIUICHI” Miura Peninsula Loop 70km #3

Embark on an unforgettable cycling adventure around Miura Peninsula, starting at Starbucks Yokosuka and winding through picturesque coastal towns. Your route takes you along the scenic shores of Uraga Bay, past historic sites like Tegarabuchi Beach and Enoshima Lighthouse, where remnants of military history still linger in the form of old gun emplacements.
The ride continues to Okusaki Cape, Japan's southernmost point on Honshu Island. Here you'll have breathtaking views over Uraga Bay as well as a chance to pay respects at Kariyashimura Shrine, dedicated to the legendary Minamoto clan and their restoration efforts in medieval times. The shrine’s name symbolizes fulfilled wishes granted by divine intervention.
As you pedal through the charming villages of Kushibariko and Nohibo Coast, prepare for some moderate elevation changes that add a dynamic element to your ride. Capture memorable moments at iconic landmarks like Miyagawa Park's windmills and its famous Maguro Daikon sculpture before crossing over to Shikine Island for a well-deserved seafood lunch.
The second half of the journey offers more rolling hills as you cycle through Miura’s lush farmlands, passing by scenic spots such as Yawataumi Beach and Sazanamiya. The day concludes with a gentle yet invigorating climb up to Daikanzan Hill, offering stunning panoramic views from atop.
With an overall distance of 70km and approximately 600 meters in elevation gain, this ride is moderately challenging but manageable for cyclists who take regular breaks and stay hydrated along the way.
