Across the Lagoon Open Water Swim 2026

Experience the breathtaking beauty of Shark Bay during the Across the Lagoon Swim, set to take place on Sunday, November 29, 2026. Registration opens at the Shark Shack in Shark Bay from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Saturday, November 28th and continues on race morning from 7:30 AM to 8:30 AM. Swimmers will collect a special key ring momento as part of their registration.
Participants can choose between two transportation options for the start line at Kraalbaai: a shuttle bus with limited seats available by booking in advance, or a boat that runs directly from Paaltjies (the bottom of Alabama Street) to Kraalbaai. Both services will return swim bags and warm clothes back to Shark Bay Shack after the race.
The official start time is set for 10:00 AM but could be adjusted based on weather conditions, with a pre-swim briefing at 9:45 AM. Swimmers are required to wear brightly colored caps (orange, pink, yellow, green or red) and use tow floats as safety measures. The water temperature ranges from 13°C to 17°C, making this swim both challenging and invigorating.
The route may be adjusted for safety reasons on the day of the event based on conditions leading up to race time. Swimmers are encouraged to have their own support craft if needed, ensuring a safe yet exhilarating journey across Shark Bay's serene lagoon waters.
